Worth knowing
Sadler Yachts, UK; cover, cost and conditions
Six model ranges are recorded, five of them as sailing yachts with the designations Sadler 25, 26, 29, 32 and 34, plus the Sea Wych 19 as a sailing boat. They were built between 1971 and 2007. For their premium the sail area counts and not an engine power.
Added to this are type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand has no influence on the calculation, whether you insure a Sadler 25 or the Sea Wych 19. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and you state races with scoring status when taking out the policy.
With years of construction spanning several decades, the agreed value in the full hull cover carries the weight: settlement is made with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without an age limit. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and we cancel the previous policy free of charge in the switching service.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Why does the sail area count with a Sadler?
With sailing boats and sailing yachts the sail area takes the place of the engine power. Together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it goes into the premium.
Can a yacht built in 1971 still be insured with full hull cover?
In the Premium tariff the full hull cover applies without an age limit. The agreed value is arranged when taking out the policy and paid in the event of a total loss with no deduction for depreciation.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
