Worth knowing
Valk; cover, cost and conditions
Ten model ranges are counted for Valk, eight of which are known to us by name, the Valkvlet types 1000 to 1350 with years of construction from 1999 to 2013 and the Merlin models 1300, 1400 and 1450 since 2018. Nothing is recorded about the type of boat, the size or the country of the brand, and we add nothing there.
Anyone taking over a boat from this programme often still has a contract running with the previous provider. We handle the switch: NAMMERT cancels the old contract free of charge and keeps an eye on the deadlines. The new cover follows on seamlessly, with third-party liability as the basis and either limited hull cover or full hull cover.
Full hull cover includes collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) on the basis of the agreed value. For trips across the national border we issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. There is no time window and no night clause.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Which ranges are recorded for Valk?
Ten ranges are counted, eight of which we know by name, the Valkvlet types 1000 to 1350 from 1999 to 2013 and the Merlin models since 2018. On the type of boat and the size we have no information.
Do I have to cancel my existing contract myself?
No, NAMMERT cancels the old contract free of charge and handles the correspondence. You only submit the details of the previous contract so that the new cover follows on without a gap in cover.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
